"The interviewees are from St. Johnston and Carrigans and the group as a whole is made up of representatives from both the Catholic and the Protestant communities. What we realised was, you know, it didn’t really matter; their experiences were very similar in relation to the smuggling and what they had to do whenever they were coming over the border at night…it didn’t matter where you were from. And it was great to hear that and not one of them mentioned the fact that they were from different traditions whenever they were doing the interviews."

Taobh Tíre

Taobh Tíre works in partnership with community groups to deliver library services to areas that are too small to sustain a full-time branch library. With support from PEACE III, it has developed programmes to facilitate the sharing of experiences of the troubles through storytelling, creative writing and cross-generational projects. The funding has also allowed the organisation to promote cultural diversity and anti-sectarianism through reader development programmes, particularly its book clubs. Taobh Tíre also targeted schools from across the border and engaged young people in activities during the Wainfest Children’s Book Festival in October.
