"My thinking is that peace is very easy through music. Nobody holds back – they all mix in and they all get on so well. The legacy is the friendship that the young people have established. With regards to peace and both cultures living together, a little bit of this goes a long way. There is a legacy there – what PEACE III has created here in Gweedore with Broughshane will be here for a long time. It will be with me for a lifetime and if you speak to some of those young people, it will be with them for a lifetime."

Musical Breeze

Musical Breeze aimed to develop stronger links between Gweedore and Broughshane through a joint youth project, incorporating musical, artistic, linguistic and cultural activities. This project provided a greater understanding and appreciation of each other’s culture and traditions, thus building stronger bonds of peace and reconciliation between the communities through various activities, in particular exploring and developing music talents. It involved acquiring state of the art musical recording equipment, setting up a programme of events and workshops between both communities and allowing the young people to fully immerse themselves in each other’s musical heritage. This allowed them to discover songs, music and traditions that play a vital part in both communities. The programme also incorporated a number of exchange residential visits that brought young people and musicians from Broughshane to Donegal and vice versa to produce and perform musical concerts and ultimately the compilation of a CD.
