Donegal County Development Board has established the Donegal Marine and Water Leisure Programme within its Community, Culture and Enterprise Unit. Their work consists of liaising with interest groups and development agencies with a view to exploring, researching, assessing and implementing ideas and development proposals in the marine and water leisure sector. To date, strategic plans have emerged for the development of game angling, sea angling, sailing, marinas, and a major visitor attraction. There are also proposals in the initial stages of development for inland waterways, beach management and coastal walking. The Marine and Water Leisure Programme can advise and assist promoters in accessing the wide range of funding opportunities within the NDP.
